Adrain E. Ross, Mifflinburg
Adrain Ernest Ross, of 200 N. 3rd St., since the 1950's, entered into rest at 6:40 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2010, at Manor Care, Williamsport, where he had been a resident since March.
He was born May 26, 1911, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Jasper and Elizabeth (Stahl) Ross.
On June 27, 1945, he married the former Doris Hazel Yeager, who preceded him in death June 16, 1961.
Adrain was employed at PHILCO Ford, Watsontown, for over 25 years.
He honorably served during World War II, from March 19, 1943 until his honorable discharge November 30, 1945. During this time he served in Central Europe, and was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Adrain was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Cowan.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410, and life member of the Mifflinburg Moose, Mifflinburg V.F.W. Post 1964, and the National Trappers Association.
Adrain enjoyed trapping, his classic cars, traveling, and playing guitar for the Union County String Band.
Surviving is one son, Terry W. Ross of Mifflinburg; and one grandson, Matthew W. Ross of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lee, Carl, and Harold Ross; and five sisters, Marian Ross, Dorothy Robbins, Ivy Doebler, Ethel Owens, and Myrtle Beck.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Cowan, 2599 Church Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. James H. Gold, officiating.
Burial will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
