Arthur Joseph Mulrooney, 101, of Millmont, entered into rest at 12:20 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.
He was born February 5, 1923, in Wilmington, Delaware, a son of the late Arthur Joseph, Sr. and Madeline (Green) Mulrooney. On September 16, 1947, he married Lucille Virginia Brown, who preceded him in death, June 1, 2021.
Arthur was a graduate of West Catholic High School, Philadelphia.
He served overseas in Iran with with US Army Transportation Corp during World War II from November 16, 1942 until his honorable discharge December 27, 1945. Arthur served on a narrow gauge railroad that supplied war materials to the Soviet Army from the Persian Gulf into the lower areas of Russia.
Arthur was employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad for 15 years and was self-employed in custom yacht building for 20 years.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Lewisburg, and attended St. George Church, Mifflinburg.
Arthur was a member of the V.F.W. Post 10094, Indian Rocks Beach, Florida, the Union County Sportsmen's Club, Weikert, and the Pennsylvania Railroad Historical Society.
Surviving are are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert P. Mulrooney of Millmont, and Patrick A. and Robin Mulrooney of Vancleve, Mississippi; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Megan and Tim Fitzpatric of Richland, Washington, Maura Fisher of Millmont, Tia and Dante Oliverio of Pittsburgh, Leigh and Steve Olinger of Ankenney, Iowa, Ryan and Dana Mulrooney of Tampa, Florida, Kellie and Nate Kirkman of Tampa, and Hope Johnson of Nashville, Tennessee; ten great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Helen Mulrooney of New Holland.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Patrick Mulrooney, and Robert and Arthur Mulrooney in infancy; and four sisters, Madeline Buchanon, Eileen Keenan, Mary Ellen Nestor, and Ann O'Connor.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., on Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Matthew Larlick, celebrant.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery with military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
