Barbara Riehl

LEWISBURG - Barbara Ellen Riehl, 82, of 161 Cedar Dr., entered her final rest at 11:39 a.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at her home.

She was born June 24, 1933, in Lancaster County, daughter of the late Amos and Annie Zook.  On November 3, 1953, she married Jacob A. Riehl, who survives.

Barbara delighted in children and in addition to caring for her own family she cared for foster children. After motherhood, she was a true “help meet” for Jacob, accompanying him to job sites when installing playgrounds for PlayWorld Systems, as well as, delivering board edgers to saw mills in Pennsylvania and beyond.

She volunteered at The Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, and crocheted dozens of blankets for The Linus Project.

Barbara was a member of Shekinah Christian Fellowship, Middleburg.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 61 years, are five children and their spouses, Maryann and Samuel Yoder of Aaronsburg, Abner and SallyAnn Lantz of Due West, South Carolina, Edna and Stephen Longenderfer of Willow Street, Linda Mae and William Peachy of East Waterford, and Jacob Abner, Jr., and Vera King of Lewisburg; one brother, Amos Zook, Jr. of Leola; one sister, Fanny Stoltzfus, Lebanon; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, and three sisters.

Family and friends are welcome from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, and prior to the time of service Friday, at Shekinah Christian Fellowship, 592 Smith Road, Middleburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, with officiating ministers, George Stoltzfus, Dave King, J. Elvin Horst, and Dave Beiler.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
