Beatrice Watson Reed, 99, Mifflinburg
Beatrice Watson Reed, 99, of Grand Valley Rd. for 58 years, went to be with her Lord at 2:40 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2009, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where she had been a resident since 2001.
She was born July 21, 1910, at 642 Walnut St., Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late David Hartman and Cora Irene (Shoemaker) Watson. In June 1937, she married William Herbert Reed. He preceded her in death in March 1980.
Beatrice was a honor student at Mifflinburg High School, where she graduated in 1928.
She assisted her husband with work on the family farm on Grand Valley Rd., West Buffalo Township, for many years, where they raised Shetland Ponies and Registered Holstein Cattle.
Beatrice was a lifelong member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, where she was a Sunday School teacher.
She was a member of the Mifflinburg Civic Club, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 152, Mifflinburg. Beatrice was an officer for the Red Cross during World War II, and an officer of the Dairyman's League of Union County.
Beatrice was an auditor of West Buffalo Township for many years.
She enjoyed painting ceramics and oil painting.
Beatrice was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, that was full of laughter and stories, and she brought joy to all who knew her, and she will be greatly missed.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, David W. Reed, and Dufrane W. and Barbara B. Reed, all of Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Daphine and her husband Jason Fritz, Deitre and her husband Jeff Loss, and Dwayne and his wife Shane Reed, all of Mifflinburg; and 7 great grandchildren, Jonathan and Sarah Fritz, Bryana and Brooke Loss, Madison, Cora, and Clayton Reed.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John Clarence Watson, and Theron Hugh Watson in infancy.
Visitors may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home,Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Rill and Rev. Theodore Cockley, officiating.
Burial will be in the Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Mifflinburg.
