On April 7, Bethany Joy (Shoreman) Zechman passed away at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital where she was awaiting a lung transplant after experiencing acute lung failure.
Bethany had a personality that could fill the room, a beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and a unique sense of humor. She was--and is--dearly loved and will be missed by all of us.
A Bicentennial baby, Bethany and Kenny would have celebrated 20 years of marriage in October. They have three children, Emma, Kyra and Owen. Neil and Alice Shoreman are her parents and her sisters are Nichelle Shoreman Stitt (John Stitt), Christa Shoreman (Susan Paul) and Cara Leitzel (Seth Leitzel, daughter Naomi Grace and son, Connor Scott). Bethany’s aunts and uncles are Hazel Ely, Harold and Norma Hackenberg, and Peter and Diann Shoreman. Kenny’s parents are Kenneth and Wendy Zechman, his grandmother is Mary Katherine Ruhl, and his grandparents are Dale and Marie Zechman. His sisters are Kathy Marie Keifer, Lisa Mae Heater, and Emily Grace DiTomo. Kenny’s aunts are Mary Guage (son, Dan and daughter, Amy) and Elizabeth Ruhl.
A Mifflinburg High School and Millersville University graduate, Bethany worked several jobs in the criminal justice field. A cyber school teacher for her youngest two children, she was also an avid stage, dance, and soccer mom. A member of the staff at Carriage Corner, she was a waitress and most recently a hostess.
Bethany spent hours crafting detailed needlepoint and beautiful scrapbooks—and reading books. She loved many types of music and traveling to New York to see musicals on Broadway. Family was very important to Bethany. From Chilly Willy’s and movie night to sit-down family dinners. She, Kenny and the kids made many wonderful memories during their trips to the beach in Chincoteague, Virginia.
