Carl E. Chamberlain, 94, formerly of Mifflinburg and Selinsgrove, entered into rest at 6:15 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Nottingham Village, Northumberland.
He was born September 22, 1925, in Everett Pennsylvania, a son of the late John T. and Naomi R. (Edwards) Chamberlain. On July 16, 1945, in Tucson, Arizona, he married the former Doris “Susie” Suzanne Rearick, who preceded him in death March 24, 2020.
Carl was a 1943 graduate of Everett High School. He attended Penn State, Cornell, and Colgate Universities. He attended Whitenburg College while in the Air Force.
He honorably served in the US Air Force from 1943 until 1964. During this time, he served in the B-29 Program during World War 2, and the Strategic Air Command in the Korean War. He was a bombardier, navigator, and radar operator.
Carl was employed with Farm Bureau and Agway for 36 years.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Steven C. and Helen Chamberlain of Manlius, New York; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betsy and Kerry Basehore of Shacklefords, Virginia, and Sally and Michael Stong of Northumberland, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Mary Jo Snyder, Jill Karlovich, Kenneth Basehore, Carolyn Phillips, and Laura Russell; and nine great-grandchildren, Morgan Catherman, Damian Catherman, Jeanna Karlovich, Julia Karlovich, Joey Karlovich, Joseph Phillips, Seth Phillips, Libbie Russell, and Charlotte Russell.
A graveside service for both Carl and Susie will be held at Yellowsprings Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg, at the convenience of the family.
