Carolyn Catherman

d. June 4, 2013

Carolyn L. Catherman, 89, Mifflinburg

Carolyn Luella McClintock Catherman, 89, of 35 E. Maple St., for 44 years, entered into rest at 3:45 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where she had been a resident since March 1st.

She was born August 7, 1923, in Muncy Valley, a daughter of the late Frank and Lulu (Hill) McClintock. On June 15, 1942, in Frederick, Maryland, she married the love of her life, Theodore W. "Pete" Catherman, who preceded her in death December 3, 2011.

Carolyn was a member of the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont, where she was a Sunday school teacher.

She was employed at the Laurelton State Village, and Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg.

Carolyn, known as "Nan" to her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and most others had a long life filled with giving and sharing her home with friends. Along with her husband, she cared for, and nurtured the family farm. She was known for her homemade bread baking, canning, and freezing foods. Carolyn loved quilting, and hosted several quilting bees in her home with many of her many special friends.

No one she ever knew needed to be alone on a holiday because there was always a place at her table for a few more guests. Her love and generosity will be missed greatly by those whose lives she touched.

Surviving are one daughter, Carol A. McJilton of Mifflinburg; one son and daughter-in-law, Forest L. and Denise McClintock of Catawissa; three grandchildren, Karla R. and her husband Jeff Benfer of Winfield, Scott P. McJilton and his girlfriend Veronica Hudon of Mifflinburg, and Shawn McClintock of Catawissa; five great grandchildren, Sean, Garrett, and Katelyn Benfer, Theodore McJilton, and Gabrielle McClintock; one adored niece, Barb and her husband Roger Miller of Penns Creek; one sister, Eleanor Hackenberg of Millmont; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Shannon McClintock; one son-in-law, Paul H. McJilton; three sisters, Edna and her husband Frank Berkheimer, Polly Nicci, and Mary Etta and her husband James Mabus; and one brother-in-law, Harold Hackenberg.

Carolyn's passing ended a very special, short time in her life, 3 months and 4 days, spent a Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, where she was lovingly cared for by their staff. She kept saying "I like it here." The companionship along with her favorite volleyball brought joy and laughter to her. Carolyn's quick wit was enjoyed by all who met her.

Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Christ's United Lutheran Church, (4-Bells Church), 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. John Yost, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
