Carolyn S. Dale, 88, Mifflinburg
Carolyn S. Dale, 88, of 57 E. Maple St., for the past 30 years, entered into rest at 12:10 a.m., Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born July 21, 1922, in Union County, a daughter of the late Clarence and Mary (Miller) Shoemaker. On June 4, 1944, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, she married Charles Milton Dale. He preceded her in death April 16, 2000.
Carolyn was a 1940 graduate of Mifflinburg High School. She then graduated as a registered nurse from the Episcopal Hospital in Philadelphia.
She was employed as a nurse at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg, for several years, and later worked at Snook's Feed Mill, later known as Agway, in Mifflinburg, until she retired.
Carolyn was an active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
She worked at Camp Mount Luther for many years. Carolyn was active in her husband's Masonic activities, all the while being a dedicated mother and grandmother.
Surviving are one daughter, Sharon M. Dale of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip E. and Anna J. Dale of Middletown, and Frederick C. and Linda J. Dale of Mifflinburg; one brother, Miller Shoemaker of Sunbury; three sisters, Alma Moyer of Mifflinburg, Margaret Smith of Lewisburg, and Mary Kathryn Ruhl of Mifflinburg; nine grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorene Alexander, and Lena Johnson; and one grandson, Benjamin Dale.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, with Rev. Kris Brown and Rev. Vickie Brown, officiating.
The church will provide a luncheon following the service.
Burial will be in the Boalsburg Cemetery.
