ALLENWOOD a�" Carrie K. Smith, 94, of Allenwood, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, after a short stay at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

Carrie, a daughter of the late Harry and Helen Long, was born on Oct. 31, 1917, in Sunbury. On Dec. 20, 1939, Carrie was united in marriage to Alvin W. Smith, who preceded her in death in 1970.

Carrie was a founding member of the former Spring Garden God's Missionary Church in Allenwood and a member at the time of her passing of New Columbia God's Missionary Church. Carrie was very faithful to her church. In her earlier years, Carrie assisted on the dairy farm of the former Kessler Farms, of Watsontown. She later worked in a sewing factory, the Montgomery Mills, and lastly at the Milton Shoe Factory. Carrie was a remarkable seamstress, enjoyed making quilts and was an avid crocheter. She made afghans for nearly every member of the family.

She is survived by one son, Paul R. Smith and his wife, Marlene, of Allenwood; one brother, Clyde Long and his wife, Kay, of Northumberland; and four grandchildren, Gary Smith and wife Cathy, of Mifflinburg, Cynthia Bargerstock and husband Jeffrey, of Massillon, Ohio., Richard Smith, of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Alexia Smith, of Allenwood. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Katrina Yoder and husband Mike, of Dryden, Ohio, Alyssa Wengerd and husband Curtis, of Monetta, S.C., Justin and Heather Smith, of Mifflinburg, and Rachelle Strayer and husband Michael and Alexander and Janelle Bargerstock, all of Massillon, Ohio; and six great-great-grandchildren, Andre, Kristin and Kylie Yoder, of Dryden, Ohio, and Carter, Brooklyn and Jamison Wengerd, of Monetta, S.C.

Carrie was preceded in death by siblings Sara Sweigart, Marie Brubaker, Grace Long and Myles, Glenn and John Long.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Roupp Funeral Home, 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, followed by the funeral at 11 with Pastor Matt Ellison and Steve Miller officiating.

Carrie will be laid to rest in Hummel's United Methodist Cemetery, Middleburg.
