Catherine Laird

Catherine V. Laird, 101, of Millmont, entered into rest at 12:45 p.m., Thursday, March 21, 2024, at home.

She was born August 6, 1922, in San Diego, a daughter of the late Leslie and Marie (Zarn) Fishell.

Catherine was employed at various jobs in California, including a photoshop and a vet clinic, and during World War II she worked for Convair, making airplane parts. Later, she worked in a lemon packing house and for Napp Industries, packing metal printing plates for newspapers. 

In 2014, she relocated to Pennsylvania to live with her daughter.

She loved hiking, camping, taking care of animals, and riding horses earlier in life. Later, she enjoyed gardening and was a veracious reader. She loved to watch hummingbirds at the feeder outside her kitchen window. 

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and David Weller of Millmont; one sister, Dorothy (Fishell) and Louis Coda of Escondido, CA; three grandchildren, Holly Weller, Austin Weller, and Jack Laird Jr.; seven grandchildren, Joy Rain Weller, and Isaiah, Fatu, Milikini, Ginger, Malosi, and Malu Laird. 

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jack Walter Laird and John Dean Laird; one brother, Harvey Fishell; and one sister, Leslie (Fishell) Brady. 

Funeral services will be private.
