Cathy L. Brungard

On March 15, 2024, Cathy Hower Brungard lost her 3-year battle with cancer. Born in Lewisburg, she was the daughter of Donald and Erma (Orren) Hower, of Mifflinburg, who both survive. She is survived by her husband, Paul Brungard, the love of her life, and with whom she shared 44 years of marriage. 

Cathy graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1974 and Williamsport Area Community College in 1976. She worked at a variety of jobs in the Lewisburg and Mifflinburg area including Perkins, Bechtels, Country Cupboard, CP02, Champion Shoe, and the Herr Memorial Library. Each of these jobs allowed her to serve the public. Cathy loved the daily interactions with her customers. 

She lived her entire life in Mifflinburg and loved the town and its people. Cathy cherished spending time with family and loved sharing in their adventures. She loved her standard poodles. Her hobbies included ceramics, collecting Longenberger baskets, reading, motorcycle rides with Paul and friends, and long rides in the mountains. Cathy’s smile and laugh were contagious and she lit up the room when she entered. 

She is survived by her sister Debra Goff (Nicholas) of Williamsport; her brother Stephen Hower, of Boca Raton, Florida; 12 nieces and nephews; and 14 great nieces and nephews. Paul's brothers Ted, Ray, and Dave and their families occupied a special place in her heart. 

The family would like to recognize and thank the nurses and aides who helped make her last days as comfortable as possible.

Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, March 21, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.
