Charles “Dodie” D. Mangle, 90, entered into rest at 12:57 p.m., Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born March 26, 1931 in Dogtown, Snyder County, a son of the late Howard and Grace (Peterson) Mangle.
Charles served in the US Army from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
On October 28, 1956, he married the former Dorothy L. Valentine, who survives. After marrying, they moved to Rochester, New York, where Charles worked at a butcher plant. They ended up living there for 10 years, then moved back to Winfield in 1966. He retired in 1993 from Wagner Sales in Winfield, where he drove truck.
Charles was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, crossbow hunting and rifle hunting. He enjoyed playing poker and would spend every Tuesday playing cards with the guys.
He was a member of the Buffalo Rod and Gun Club. Charles was a life member of New Berlin American Legion Post 957, and of Kratzerville Fire Company.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Rhelda Mangle of Mifflinburg; granddaughter, Brandy and Eric Hanford: and sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bob Napp of Winfield.
He was preceded in death by one son, David C. Mangle.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 26, at Orchard Hills Cemetery, Shamokin Dam, with Rev. Richard DeVett, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
