Charles H. Ruckle, 92, of Millmont entered into rest on October 28, 2023. He was the son of Albert J. and Estella B. (Snedeker) Ruckle and was born on May 24, 1931. He grew up in North Jersey with his brother, George, near where his family settled in 1639.
As a strong-willed young man, he quit Yale to learn how to be a farmer by attending Rutgers and PSU. After a turn in the Navy, he married Laura Lee (Merrill) on June 12, 1954. They found their farm at the West End of Union County in 1955. He tried dairy, sheep, and beef farming. He used the many skills he learned on the farm to design and build houses, furniture, and toys.
Charles loved to sing while he drove his tractor, and loved to laugh at old movies. He loved to cook large family dinners with lots of vegetables. Charles loved nature and planted thousands of trees on his farm. He loved to watch kids fishing and playing in the many ponds he built on his farm.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura, his daughter, Linda Katherman, his son, Alan Ruckle, and his grandson, Robert Duncan.
Surviving are nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two daughters, Karen Ruhl and Peggy Diehl. They all will think of him often as they enjoy the farm where he lived for his long, peaceful life.
Funeral services will be private.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
