Charles Edward Zechman, Jr., 83, Millmont

Charles Edward Zechman Jr., 83, formerly of Millmont, entered into eternal rest on
Sunday January 6, 2013, at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg.

Charles was born June 17, 1929 in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Charles
E. Sr. and Florence M. (Snyder) Zechman. On January 2, 1954, he married the former
Fay J. Jones who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years, are son David E. Zechman and his wife Linda C.
Zechman of Laurelton, grandson Charles R. "Chip" Zechman and his wife Elizabeth A.
Zechman of Millmont, granddaughter Ava J. Zechman and husband Brent D. Zechman of
Middleburg, and one great-grandson Ridge W. Zechman of Middleburg.

In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by four brothers and one sister,
Richard of Lewisburg, Harold of Milton, Donald of Carlisle, Robert of Lewisburg, and
Betty Auman of Beaver Falls. Preceding him in death were one brother and two sisters,
Kenneth, Geraldine Shively, and Thelma who died in early childhood.

Charles graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1946. He entered the army in 1951,
and retired 38 years later in 1989. Twenty six of those years were as a full-time
technician for the PA Army National Guard in the Danville, Lewistown and Milton
armories.

He had a passion for playing softball and played for over 38 years. In 1976, he was a
member of a PA State Championship team. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, with a
particular interest in Deer Hunting and fishing for Crappies at Walker Lake in his boat
"Me Ticker". He was well known for his trout fishing skills and spent many hours
behind his former residence along the shores of Penns Creek. Following retirement, he
became an avid woodworker and created many fine wooden crafts and other items of fine
furniture.

He was a life-long member of Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, life-member of
the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, member of the American Legion in
Mifflinburg, and a former member of the Military Vehicle Collectors Club.

He was particularly fond of calling BINGO for the Lions Club, and was involved in many
of the clubs fundraisers. In more recent years, he enjoyed going to Country Music Jams
with his brother Robert, and went on many bus-trip tours with his brothers Richard and
Harold.

In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public viewing or services. Private funeral services will be conducted at the convenience of his family at the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurelton, with Pastor Mark Messner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lincoln Chapel United Methodist Church
Parsonage Fund, PO Box 156, Laurelton PA, 17835.

Funeral arrangements are by the Roupp Funeral Home, 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
