Clara J. Rathfon, 77, Mifflinburg
Clara Jean Rathfon, 77, a resident of Riverwoods, Lewisburg, since December 2009, formerly of 2190 Wabash Rd., Mifflinburg, since 1953, entered into rest at 10:24 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born May 16, 1934, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late George I. and Verna Bessie (Miller) Hanselman. On August 15, 1954, she married Glenn C. Rathfon, who preceded her in death August 9, 1977.
Clara enjoyed attending carnivals and country music jamborees, spending time on her porch and watching birds. She especially enjoyed Sunday family gatherings and time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Glenn I. and Sandy M. Rathfon of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Carrie V. and John T. Struble, Jr. of Pleasant Grove; one brother, David Hanselman of New York; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Helen Rathfon of Selinsgrove, Nancy and Ray Mitch of Mifflinburg, and Ruth and Paul Dauberman of Mifflinburg; 5 grandchildren, John T., III and his wife Rosa M. Struble, Wade G. Rathfon, Chad M. Rathfon, Cara C. and her husband James A. Trutt, and Thomas A. Picarelli, Jr.; 2 step grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren, Brady T. Struble, Wesley C. Struble, Rawdy L. Rathfon, Cody A. Rathfon, Mason J. Rathfon, Miranda L. Trutt, Lee Trutt, Alyssa J. Trutt, and Cameron Rathfon; 7 step-great grandchildren; and her life time friend and companion for 29 years, Sonny Shiffer.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Sadie A. Rathfon; one brother, Charles Hanselman; and one sister, Ada Oberlin.
There will be no public viewing. Visitors may call from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Richard L. DeVett, officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
