Clyde A. Chappell

Clyde A. Chappell, 78, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest Thursday, February 8, 2024, at home.

He was born April 17, 1945, in Buffalo Township, a son of the late Andrew Blane and Helen Mae (Walker) Chappell.  On June 27, 1964, he married the former Sharon I. Derr, who preceded him in death July 20, 2010.

Clyde attended Mifflinburg High School.

He was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, Lewisburg, where he enjoyed assisting with the annual rummage sale and making his famous ham and bean soup for church fundraisers.

Clyde was employed at Furman Foods for 53 years, before he retired in 2023.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, flower gardening, and having family pool parties and holiday gatherings. Clyde was very proud of his Christmas decorations, especially his 60-foot Christmas tree.

Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Clyde, II and Donna Chappell of Mifflinburg, Tyson and Karen Chappell of Mifflinburg, Brandon Chappell of Mifflinburg, and Ashley and Cindy Chappell of Muncy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacqueline and Mark Blanchard of Watsontown, and Marchella and Bill Geiswite of New Berlin; 11 grandchildren, Kalob Jocoy, Christopher Wirth, Alexa Blanchard, Mark Blanchard, Kyle Blanchard, Shawnee Kline, Amy Chappell, Jesse Yearick, Alec Chappell, Nathaniel Chappell, and Ava Chappell; and 9 great-grandchildren, Lyila Wirth, Avery Beaver, Izabella Beaver, Bentley Yearick, Gideon Yearick, Cason Yearick, Wylon Kline, Wyatt Kline, and Weston Kline.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Elizabeth Moyer, Anna Wertz, and Janet Delosier.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 13, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Church Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.

Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery.
