C. Duane Sharp, 61, Mifflinburg

C. Duane Sharp, 61, of 802 Crestview Rd., entered into rest at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born May 31, 1948 in Greenwood, Delaware, a son of the late Crist D. and Bertha (Good) Sharp. On February 3, 1968 in Lancaster, he married the former Darlene M. Buckwalter, who survives.

Duane was a 1967 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He attended the Mifflinburg Alliance Church.

Duane was most recently employed by Fisher & Thompson as the Mifflinburg Warehouse Manager. Earlier in life, he was a self-employed long haul truck driver and also worked white washing dairy barns.

He was an avid golfer and member of the Shade Mountain Golf Course, Middleburg. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, hunting, fishing, and was a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. Duane enjoyed traveling with his brothers to hunt and fish in Maine and Colorado. He cherished his family and sharing time with his grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 41 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Stacy McHenry of Lancaster, and Michelle and Patrick Kane of Pittsburgh; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Ica Sharp of Florence, Colo., Norman and Rose Sharp of New Holland, Paul and Diane Sharp of Landisburg, Joseph and Mary Jean Sharp of Mifflinburg, and Melvin and Leslie Sharp of Scottsdale, Ariz.; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ruth and John Himmelreich of Mifflinburg, Emma Sharp of Lewisburg, Nancy and Carl Litwiller of Lancaster, and Mary Cardin of Durango, Colo.; three grandchildren, Abigail McHenry, Austin Kane, and Mason Kane; step-mother, Melinda Sharp of Belleville; and many nieces and nephews.

There will be no public viewing.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 12 E. Market St., Mifflinburg, where the memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m., with Rev. Glen Bayly, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Geisinger House of Care, 100 N. Academy Ave., MC 28-00, Danville, PA 17822, or to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
