David “Dave” S. Delong, 72, of Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 7:42 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Emmanuel Nursing Center, Danville.
He was born May 12, 1952, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Ammon Franklin and Margaret Eileen (Barkley) Delong. On January 4, 1992, he married the former Debra M. Bennage, who survives.
Dave was a 1970 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.
He served in the Army National Guard from February 14, 1973 until his honorable discharge September 24, 1978.
Dave was employed at Heller’s Gas, Lewisburg, for 16 years until he retired. Earlier in life, he worked at Harry’s Truck and Equipment Service, Mifflinburg, and the Mifflinburg School District bus garage.
He enjoyed vacationing in Cape May and transporting Mennonite families after he retired.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 32 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Melissa Bierly of Mifflinburg, and Ryan and Lindsey Bierly of Sunbury; one daughter Megan Scott of Vicksburg; one brother, Byron Delong; two sisters, Judy Kay George, and Joyce Marie Spaid; one sister-in-law, Velma Delong; and seven grandchildren, Dalton and his fiancé Sarah, Ainsley, Elizabeth, Griffin, Channing, River, and Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Lee Delong.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to noon, Friday, February 7, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the memorial service will be conducted at noon, with Pastor Marc Snyder, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
