MIFFLINBURG a�" David E. Johnson, 73, of Mifflinburg, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013.

He was born July 5, 1940, in Lewisburg, a son of the late F. Eugene and Dorothy (Criswell) Johnson. Dave was married to his wife of nearly 29 years, Jody (McClellan) Johnson, who survives.

Dave graduated from Lewisburg High School in 1958. He furthered his studies at Bucknell University and went on to earn his degree in hematology and bacteriology from Franklin School of Science and Arts in 1960. Dave served in the Army from 1960-1963 and was stationed in Hoechst, Germany. He worked in the 61st General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany and finished with an honorable discharge.

Dave was a successful entrepreneur in the milling industry, a skill that he learned from his father. He was owner and president of Clintondale Mills, Inc., from 1963-1995.

In addition to his academic and business pursuits, Dave was an accomplished musician, skilled at both the organ and piano. His musical talents were additionally seen through his singing, where he had the opportunity in his young adult years to travel Europe doing one of the things he loved most. Dave was an expert skier, serving as a Mountain Mansfield Ski Host in Stowe, Vt., while living there with his family. He shared his love of skiing with his family, taking memorable trips skiing the Alps of Lech, Austria and Green Mountains of Stowe, Vt. Throughout his life, Dave had a love of the outdoors, scuba diving, classical music, snowmobiling, coffee and conversation with his "coffee buddies," motorcycling, traveling the world, and was a licensed pilot.

Dave will always be remembered for his humor, unmatched work ethic, generous heart, and shining example of living life to the fullest. Though his accomplishments were many, Dave will be most remembered for his dedication to and love for his family. He was a devoted father and husband, and was the first to note that his greatest pride and joy were his two girls, Ashley and Avery.

Dave is survived by his wife, Jody, of Mifflinburg; daughter, Ashley Johnson and adored granddaughter, Madison, of Morgantown, W.Va.; daughter, Avery (Johnson) Mowen and husband, Jared, of Mifflinburg. Along with his wife and children, Dave is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Fred and Patty Johnson; sister and brother-in-law, Beth (Johnson) and Charlie Hackenberg; brother-in-law and close friend, Dave Weaver; sister-in-law and husband, Gale (Moyer) and Phil McClure. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Dottie (Moyer) Weaver; his beloved first wife, Frances (Moyer) Johnson; and daughter, Wenda (2A½ years), in 1965.

There will be no public viewing. Friends and family will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Crossroads Church of the Nazarene, 71 Nazarene Lane, Milton.

Private services will be held for immediate family.
