David Roat

David R. Roat, 74, of 240 Green St., Mifflinburg, entered into rest at 2:38 a.m., Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Wellspan Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born January 6, 1951, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Robert L. and Nettie Leona (Sampey) Roat. On March 22, 1970, he married the former Susan A. Showalter, who survives.

David was a 1968 graduate of Lewisburg High School.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church.

David was employed at International Paper, Lewisburg, for 32 years, and later at Yorktowne, Mifflinburg, and as a custodian at New Berlin Elementary School, until he retired in 2013.

He was a member of the County Line Hunting Club, Beaver Springs, and the Union County Sportsmen’s Club, Weikert.

David enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching Philadelphia sports teams, playing cards and dominos, traveling to the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and spending time with his family.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 55 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Melinda Roat of New Berlin; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Steve Heimbach of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Derrik and Maggie; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Larry Keefer of Watsontown.

Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 15, at the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, 279 Market St., where the memorial service will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Robert Rice, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
