Dean L. Bierly, 76, Mifflinburg
Dean LaRue Bierly, 76, of 136 Reber Rd., since 1956, entered into rest at 6:20 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in a motor scooter accident.
He was born December 23, 1932, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Frank W. and Sarah "Sallie" (Minnig) Bierly. On August 23, 1950, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Sylvia E. Oberdorf, who survives.
Dean was employed at Pennsylvania House Furniture, Lewisburg, for ten years until he retired in 2001. Earlier in life, he was employed by the Borough of Mifflinburg, Sterling Silk Mill, Mifflinburg, and Beyer-Fortner Oil Co., Lewisburg, as a serviceman.
He enjoyed riding motorcycle, camping, attending carnivals and parades, and watching fireworks. Dean especially enjoyed sharing time with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, is three sons and daughters-in-law, William W. and Susie Bierly, Wayne L. and Crystal Bierly, and Glenn A. and Rita Bierly, all of Mifflinburg; one daughter, Shelley E. and Steve Nogle of Millmont; 8 grandchildren, Heather Bierly of Port Trevorton, Wayne R. Bierly of Mifflinburg, Ryan Bierly of Mifflinburg, Dawn Radel of Winfield, Cory Bierly of Montgomery, Amy Walls of Millmont, David Nogle of Millmont, and Shane Bierly of Mifflinburg; 2 step-greandchildren, Nicole Lust of Watsontown, and Erin Henry of Bethlehem; 10 great grandchildren, Dalton, Elizabeth, Christopher, Samuel, Rebecca, Jessica, Garrett, Emily, Braden, and Raygan.
He was preceded in death by one son, Dean L. Bierly, Jr.; and one great-grandson, Noah Lucas.
There will be no public viewing. Visitors may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Forest Hill United Methodist Church, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Daniel H. Hicks, officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
