DeWayne Greenawalt Jr.

DeWayne C. Greenawalt, Jr., 82, of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 9:48 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2024, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born February 13, 1942 in Shippenville, a son of the late DeWayne C. Sr., and Anna (Carruba) Greenawalt.

As a teenager, he relocated with his family to Montandon. He graduated with honors from Milton Area Senior High School. He later obtained an Associate’s degree in Computer Programming from Penn College, Williamsport.

On August 3, 1963, in Montandon, he married his long-time sweetheart Marian Marie (Mong) Greenawalt. Together they enjoyed 59 years of marriage, until her passing on March 27, 2023.

Before retiring in 2010, he was employed as a computer programmer at Penn College, where he made many friends.

DeWayne was an avid fan of Penn State and Pittsburgh Steelers football. He loved movies and comic books, and enjoyed staying informed of local and world news. In 1972 he was sworn in as a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 57 of Sunbury, where he served alongside his father for several years.

Surviving are two sons, Jesse Greenawalt of Lewisburg, and Chris Greenawalt of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Patricia Poole; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Miller of Montandon, and Diane Fisher of Coal Township.

He was preceded in death by one son, John Greenawalt in June 2023.

Funeral services will be private.

The family requests no flowers.
