Dolin “Jake” Ellsworth Hornberger, Jr., Master Sergeant Retired US Army, 85, of 533 Long Lane, Millmont, since 1972, entered into rest at 5:48 a.m., Friday, February 10, 2017, at the home of his daughter, Delores.
He was born April 8, 1931, in Northumberland, a son of the late Dolin E., Sr. and Cora (Beachell) Hornberger. On January 16, 1953, in Yokohama, Japan, he married the former Masako Yamazaki, who survives.
Jake enlisted in the Army in 1949, and was stationed in the United States and abroad, including Vietnam and Korea. After his military retirement in 1970, Jake worked at various auto garages and was a Long Haul truck driver.
Jake enjoyed his dogs, Missy and Kozy, and riding and training his horses.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, are four daughters and two sons-in-law, Doris E. Haupt of Millmont, Delores M. and Steve Hartman of Millmont, Kay S. Hornberger and companion David Schnure of Pleasant Grove, and Jo and John McGraw of Millmont; five grandchildren, Kelli Haupt and her companion Chris Peterson, Don and his wife Marla Tomlinson, Jacob Tomlinson, Megan and her husband Jason Bridges, and Tessa Hartman; and six great grandchildren, Skye, Paige, Riley, River, Ethan, and Addision.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Irvin Hornberger; one sister, Dorothy Hornberger; and one son-in-law, Tom Haupt.
Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
