Donald Mowery

Donald F. Mowery, 84, Mifflinburg

Donald Franklin Mowery, 84, a lifelong resident of 10715 State Route 304, pasted peacefully at 10:51 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2012, surrounded by his family at his home.

He was born October 26, 1927, in Snyder County, a son of the late Harvey and Rebecca (Geiswite) Mowery. On June 19, 1948, he married the former Betty Jean Sauers, who preceded him in death.

Donald served in the Army with the 743 AAA Gun Battalion from January 30, 1946 until his honorable discharge on July 8, 1947.

He owned and operated Mowery's Texaco and Service Station in Dice, from 1958 until he retired in 1991.

He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.

Donald was a farmer his entire life and also enjoyed gardening, fishing, western movies, and time with his family and friends.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Dona L. and Jesse L. Thomas of Mifflinburg; one grandson, Matthew W. Ross of Mifflinburg; one brother, Neil Mowery of Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Timothy, Kenneth, Nile, Charles, Kermit, Lovell, Marlin, and Margarette Mowery, and Nina Boop.

Services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.

Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
