Earl J. Eppley, 87, Mifflinburg
Earl Joseph Eppley, 87, of 273 Ruhl Lane, for the past 40 years, passed away at 6:26 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 18, 1926, in Camp Hill, a son of the late Harry and Elsie Eppley. In 1945, he married Mary Jane Hildebrandt, who preceded him in death in 2000.
Earl was a 1943 graduate of East Pennsboro High School.
He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1943 and was honorably discharged in 1945 at the end of World War II.
Earl took a correspondence course in radio and television while working on the Pennsylvania Railroad. He successfully started and operated Eppley's TV Service, Camp Hill, for 20 years. Earl was also employed at International Paper, Lewisburg, and the Selinsgrove Center, until he retired in 1986.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W and American Legion.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Suzanne and Carl Miner of Lemoyne, and Carol Eppley of Dover; four grandchildren, James Kauffman of Boiling Springs, Julie Widmayer of New Cumberland, Janelle Hood and her husband Andrew of Wellsville, and Nicole Weber of Strinestown; Earl's wife, Clara, and her two daughters and one son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Eppley of Lake Meade; and 3 nephews and one neice.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Lee Eppley, officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
