Elbert A. Watts, 83, Watsontown
Elbert Austin Watts, 83, formerly of Jersey Shore, entered into rest at 8:53 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born August 7, 1930, in Spook Hollow, a son of the late George and Alvia Watts. On July 22, 1951, he married the former Nancy L. Bay, who survives.
Elbert attended Jersey Shore High School.
He honorably served in the Navy for 8 years.
Elbert was employed at Jersey Shore Steel for 25 years.
He drove ambulance in Jersey Shore and was a police officer in South Williamsport for many years.
Elbert was a pilot and enjoyed flying single engine planes. He also enjoyed John Deer tractors, and playing ball with his dog, Sugar.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 62 years, are one daughter, Sharon D. Boatman of Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Wendy K. Kranz of Lewisburg, April M. Huffman of South Williamsport, and Melissa A. Beatty of Dunnstown; and eight great grandchildren, Jonah Huffman, Keaton Seasholtz, Preston Beatty, Gavyn Boatman, Kyle Kranz, Tyler Kranz, Mercedes Boatman, and Lauren Huffman.
He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Paula K. Watts; three brothers, Kenneth, Herman, and Cleon Watts; one sister, Thelma Brubaker; and one grandson, Thomas L. Boatman, Jr.
Family and friends are welcome from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, and 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Wayne S. Krell, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
