Eleanor M. Koonsman, 80, Mifflinburg

Eleanor Mae Koonsman, 80, a lifelong resident of Mifflinburg, and of N. 8th St., for 30 years, entered into rest at 6:40 p.m., Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont.

She was born May 1, 1932, in Mifflinburg, a daughter of the late Samuel O. and Stella Jane (Frederick) Steese. On February 14, 1948, in Middletown, she married William Lincoln Koonsman, who preceded her in death in 1983.

Eleanor attended Mifflinburg High School.

She was employed as a nurse's aide at Rolling Hills Manor, Millmont, from 1966 to 1970, and then Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, until she retired in 1976.

Eleanor was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church.

She enjoyed reading, knitting, cross-stitch, playing bingo and cards, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel R. and Diana Koonsman of Middleburg, Ronald W. and Jane Koonsman of Hartleton, and Glenn S. and Vicki Koonsman of Millmont; two daughters and one son-in-law, Theresa J. and Daniel Grassley of Mifflinburg, and Sharon L. Polcyn of Pooler, Georgia; 7 grandchildren, Samuel R. Koonsman, Jr., Deniece Seeley, Stacey Boop, Ronald Koonsman, Jr., Chad Koonsman, Melanie Grassley Scurto, and Alexis Polcyn; 13 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Clair Steese, Samuel Steese, Archie Steese, and Ralph Steese; two sisters, Viola Baker and Ellen Phillips; two grandchildren, Shelly Ann Koonsman and William Koonsman; and one great granddaughter, Brianna Hommel.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ronald Warfle, officiating.

Burial will be in the Old Turnpike Cemetery, Hartley Township.
