Elsie Swarey

Elsie H. (Peachey) Swarey, 86, of 8967 Big Valley Pike, Mill Creek, formerly of Mifflinburg, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at her home.
She was born June 4, 1931, in Belleville, a daughter of the late Noah H. and Emma (Bawel) Peachey. On Nov. 25, 1952, she married John C. Swarey who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2002.

Elsie was a homemaker but had also done house cleaning and worked at Wenger's Store for 12 years.
She was a member of Vicksburg Mennonite Church.
Elsie enjoyed family visits and socializing with people.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Irene and Ray Miller, of Wytheville, Mark Henry and Barbara S. (Detweiler) Swarey, of Mifflinburg, and Erma J. and Mark A. Byler, of Mill Creek; 26 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rachel E. Walters, of Belleville, and Sylvia E. Yoder, of Monticello, Ky.; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Korie D. and Madonna Peachey, of Belleville, and Paul R. and Joanne Peachey, of Warfordsburg.
She was preceded in death by four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, Belleville, and from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday at Vicksburg Mennonite Church, Mifflinburg, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday.
Burial will follow in Vicksburg Church Cemetery.
