MIFFLINBURG – Emil “Vito” Thomas Velotti, 84, of 209 Crescent Dr., since 1993, formerly of Brookfield, Connecticut, entered into rest at 7:25 a.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at his home.
He was born March 25, 1930, in Lancaster, Pa. A son of the late Louis and Marie (Marsilio) Velotti. On April 21, 1955, he married the former Gloria Ann Romard, who survives.
Vito was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Mifflinburg.
He was a 1948 graduate of Fairfield High School, Fairfield, Connecticut and attended the University of Miami, Florida.
Vito served in the Air Force during the Korean War from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1955.
He was employed as a Supervisor at the Fairfield Hills State Hospital, Newtown, Connecticut, for 25 years until his retirement.
Vito enjoyed playing golf and was a member of The Newtown Country Club in Newtown Connecticut where he was a past club champion. Upon moving to Mifflinburg he joined and remained a member of The Bucknell Golf Club, Lewisburg. He enjoyed playing the trumpet in big bands, watching Connecticut sports teams as an avid fan of UConn Women’s Basketball. Spending time with his grandchildren was time he looked forward too.
Vito was very dedicated to his wife of nearly 60 years, as well as a loving father and Grandfather.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are two sons, Joe Velotti of New Milford, and Louis Velotti of Woodbury, Connecticut; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gloria and Richard Brant of Mifflinburg, and Lucy and Al Brant of New Milford; and 6 grandchildren, James, Tom, Alicia, Kyle, Eric, and Samantha.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Charles.
Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in the Center Cemetery, New Milford, Connecticut.
