Ethan Joseph Good, 91, of Lewisburg, went to be with his Lord and Savior at 12:48 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at home. He was born March 16, 1929, to Otto and Anna (Weaver) Good in Augusta Co., VA.
When Ethan was young, the family relocated to Harrisonburg, VA, where he helped on the family farm and did carpentry. He married Shirley Harman from Harrisonburg, VA, on October 5, 1951. In 1958, they relocated to Sarasota FL, with their 3 daughters, Phyllis, Ardis, and Patricia Dawn, where Ethan worked as a Home Builder.
In 1964, the family moved to Mashulaville, MS, to assist in mission work among the Choctaw People. Shortly after their arrival, their daughters, Rosa and Carol, joined the family. It was here where Ethan found his life work, serving others. He was loved by the Choctaw People as well as the community he moved in and was also sought after as a home builder. He often reminded his daughters, "A Good name is to be chosen rather than great riches." Proverbs 22:1.
In 1979, he was ordained as Pastor at Nanih Waiya Indian Mennonite Church, where he served faithfully until 2014. At that time, Ethan and Shirley relocated to Lewisburg, PA, to spend their later years with their daughter, Ardis and Lester Diller.
Ethan was a member of the Buffalo Community Church, Lewisburg, where he enjoyed attending Sunday school class.
He leaves behind, his wife Shirley, daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis (Dan) Miller, McComb, MS, Ardis (Lester) Diller, Lewisburg, PA, Rosa (Tim) Kanagy, Louisville, MS, Carol (Mark) Roth, Jackson, MS, and Jon Yoder and wife Heleen, Atmore, AL along with 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He will be welcomed into his eternal rest by his parents, Otto and Anna Good, brothers, James, (Miriam) and Pierce, sisters, Cathleen (David) Barnhart and Mildred (Ernie) Simpson and daughter, Patricia Dawn Yoder.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the Buffalo Community Church, 4445 Hoffa Mill Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Lester Diller, officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
A memorial service in Mississippi will be held March 14, 2021.
