Eugene E. "Bing" Bingaman, 84, Mifflinburg
Eugene Edgar "Bing" Bingaman, 84, of 9 Mifflin Court, since 2006, formerly of 106 E. Green St., entered into rest early Monday morning, May 17, 2010, at his home.
He was born March 29, 1926, in Port Ann, a son of the late Dallas and Dorothy (Bowersox) Bingaman. On May 20, 1944, in McClure, he married the former Hazel May Kline, who survives.
Bing served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II from May 15, 1944 until his honorable discharge December 3, 1945. He was awarded with a Purple Heart.
He was the founding owner of Bing's Auto Body, Mifflinburg, established in 1964. Bing retired from ACF Industries, Milton, in 1987.
He enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies, fishing, and spending time with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and was a founding member of the Shade Mountain Hunting Club. Earlier in life, he also participated in drag races.
Surviving in addition to his wife of nearly 66 years, are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Carol and Donald Bottiger of Mifflinburg, Linda and Gary Chambers of New Berlin, Annette Bilger of Millmont, and Connie and Wayne Biggans of Eyers Grove; one brother, Burnell Bingaman of Albion, NY; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley Bingaman; and two sisters, Jeanette Bingaman and Arlene Felmey.
Family and friends are welcome from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Wednesday, at the Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Plum and High Streets, New Berlin, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Rev. Dr. Roger K. Peters, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion, Post 410.
