Eugene F. Phillips, 88, of Millmont, entered into rest at 5:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2020, at Emmanuel Center, Danville.
He was born October 16, 1931, in Shamokin, a son of the late Frank B. and Grace (Bainbridge) Phillips. On May 3, 1972, he married the former Mary Bingaman, who preceded him in death on January 8, 2010.
Eugene was a graduate of Shamokin High School.
He served in the US Navy from 1950 until his honorable discharge in 1954.
Eugene worked as a crane operator for ACF Industries, Milton, for many years until he retired.
He was a member of Christ’s United Lutheran Church, Millmont, where he was active in many church activities and enjoyed helping at the West End Fair food stand.
Eugene enjoyed reading, hunting, and fishing.
He was a member of the Millmont West Union Area Lions Club, and Masonic Lodge 370, Mifflinburg.
Surviving are one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Mary J. and Kenneth M. Roush of Bloomsburg; one daughter, Deborah L. Stein and her companion Scott Smith of Tower City; one sister, Maxine Woodring of Sunbury; two grandchildren, Brandi and her fiancé Todd Eckert of Myerstown, and Korri and her husband Daniel Boyer of Annville; one step-granddaughter, Gwen R. and her husband David P. Utt of Bloomsburg; five great grandsons, Gregory Tonini, Jr., Brandon Tonini, Kelan, Chayce, and Braden Boyer; and two step-greatgrandchildren, Ella and Lucas Utt.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon D. Phillips.
Family and friends are welcome to a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, at Christ’s United Lutheran Church, 13765 Old Turnpike Rd., Millmont, where the funeral service will be conducted at 11, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.
Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
Arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg.
