Eugene Irvin Ricker, 85, of 900 Mountain Rd, New Berlin, since 1996, entered into rest at 6:25 a.m., Sunday, February 5, 2017, at his home.
He was born June 25, 1931, in Lock Haven, a son of the late Tesla C. and Eva K. (Irvin) Ricker. On February 24, 1974, he married the former Karon C. Catherman, who survives.
Eugene was a 1949 graduate of Lock Haven High School and a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology.
He served in the Navy from March 12, 1951 until his honorable discharge March 7, 1955. Eugene was a radar operator on the transport ship “USS Fremont” in the Mediterranean Sea during the Korean Conflict.
Eugene was employed as a groundskeeper at the Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport, for many years.
He was a member of the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, and earlier in life a member of the Christ’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewisburg.
Eugene enjoyed his dogs, collecting Indian arrowheads, hunting, fishing, and trapping.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years, is one son, David E. Ricker of Bloomsburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister in infancy.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Gordon E. Smith, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410 and area veterans.
