Eugene “Gene” R. Hackenberg, 79, of Millmont, entered into rest Wednesday, July 11, 2018, in Lewis Township.
He was born September 28, 1938, in Paxtonville, a son of the late Marlin and Mary (Weirick) Hackenberg. On May 14, 1960, in Malvern, he married the former Sylvia D. Eisenhuth, who survives.
Gene attended Middleburg High School.
He was employed as a welder at AC&F, Milton, for 11 years. Earlier in life, he worked at Stan Seiple Construction, Sunbury.
Gene enjoyed hunting, bowling, attending public sales, Penn State football, watching the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 58 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven E. and Christine Hackenberg of Millmont, and Keith A. and Beth Hackenberg of Millmont; two daughters and one son-in-law, Stacey M. Martin and Steven Dunkle of Mifflinburg, and Terri L. Hackenberg of Mifflinburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Patricia Hackenberg of Paxtonville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley and Leonard Goss of Paxtonville, and Patricia and Steven Helbert of Camp Hill; nine grandchildren, Lance Klose, Tayva Thomas, Adam Davis, Taylor and Seth Martin, Shelby, Megan, and Olivia Hackenberg, and Oakley Whitesel; and three great Grandchildren, Nicholas Lloyd, and Addyson and Maverick Davis.
Family and friends are welcome to a time of visitation from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where a memorial service to celebrate Gene’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Butch Woolsey, officiating.
