Florence V. Hogentogler

Florence Viola Hogentogler, 88, of Winfield, entered into rest at 3:48 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at her home.

She was born January 15, 1936, in Susquehanna, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lillian (DePoe) Barnes.  On April 19, 1958, she married the love of her life, John Clayton Hartley, who preceded her in death June 1, 1973. She then married Granville Catlin Hogentogler, who preceded her in death July 24, 2009.

Florence was a graduate of Susquehanna High School and a 1957 graduate of Geisinger School of Nursing.

She was a long time member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Mifflinburg.

Florence was employed as a Registered Nurse at Evangelical Hospital for many years, until she retired in 1994.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are children and their spouses, Linda Trask and her partner Thomas Reed of Cody, Wyoming, Steve and Marilyn Hartley of Livingston, Montana, Susan and Mark Shultz of Loudon, Tennessee, Nancy and William Wiist of Shamokin Dam, Ann Hartley of Winfield, and Rebecca and Theron Fox of Winfield; four brothers, Thomas, Albert, Fred, and Raymond Barnes; one sister, Marian Slocum; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Herbert, Donald, Roger, Alvin, Henry, Clyde, and John; and one sister, Martha Berge.

Family and friends are welcome from 1:30 to 2 p.m., Saturday, January 20, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 332 E. Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 2, with Pastor Shawn McLain, officiating.

Burial will be in the Chestnut Hills Cemetery, Winfield.
