Forrest C. Emery, 85, Mifflinburg
Forrest Charles Emery, 85, of 1135 Red Bank Rd., since 1951, entered into rest Monday, December 5, 2011, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
He was born December 14, 1925, in Millmont, a son of the late Rollin and Helen (Grove) Emery. On March 25, 1948, in Mifflinburg, he married the former Edna Mae Jolly, who survives.
Forrest attended Mifflinburg Schools.
He honorably served in the navy during World War II.
Forrest was employed at James Julin Construction Co., Wilmington, Delaware, until he retired in 1976. Prior to that, he was employed at PHILCO, Watsontown, and Albert Chriswell Construction, Lewisburg.
He was a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
Forrest enjoyed working in his tool shed, fishing in the creek next to his home, gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 63 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney and Joan Emery of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Rick Endy of Mifflinburg; two grandchildren, Tammy Betsock and her husband Steve of Winfield, and James Emery and his companion Gretchen Powell of Mifflinburg; two great granddaughters, Alexis and Courtney Betsock of Winfield; four brothers and one sister-in-law, Warren Emery, Richard Emery, and Robert Emery all of Mifflinburg, and Neil and Myrtle Lou Emery of Houston, Texas; and two sisters, Josephine Haggy, and Fae Hanselman, both of Mifflinburg.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Kathryn Weller.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Pastor Roy Longenecker, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery, with Military Honors by the New Berlin American Legion Post 957.
