Franklin D. Raker, 94, of 107 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, since 1964, entered into rest at 7:10 p.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where he had been a resident since October.
He was born July 25, 1923, in Middleburg, a son of the late Ralph R. and Maude B. (Kuhns) Raker. On November 3, 1941, in Millmont, he married the former Helen A. Catherman, who survives. They celebrated 76 years together.
Franklin served in the Army during World War II from April 3, 1944 until his honorable discharge February 6, 1946.
He was employed for many years as a Supervisor at American Home Foods, Milton, until he retired in 1985.
Franklin was a lifetime member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen’s Club, Mifflinburg.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 76 years, are four daughters and three sons-in-law, Evelyn and Donald Miller of Mifflinburg, Elizabeth Betz of Mifflinburg, Carol Ann and Robert Shively of Indiana, Pennsylvania, and Mary and Ed Martin of Millheim; two sons Daniel Raker of Mifflinburg, and Clarence Raker of Mifflinburg; 14 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Bridge, Pauline Solomon, and Florence Feese; and one brother, Raymond Raker.
Funeral services will be private.
