Gerald L. Lloyd, Sr., 83, of Lewisburg, entered into rest at 10:19 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.
He was born May 13, 1941 in Lewisburg, a son of the late George V. and Esther (Shiffer) Lloyd. On December 31, 1960, he married the former Thelma “Liz” E. Simpson, who survives. They would have celebrated their 64th anniversary in December.
Gerald attended Mazeppa, Lewisburg, and Mifflinburg schools.
He owned and operated Gerald Lloyd General Contracting for 50 years. Gerald was hardworking and loved to work with his hands and could build or fix anything.
Gerald loved spending time with his wife and family and made many memories at the family cabin and home. He also enjoyed attending the sporting events of his children and grandchildren. In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling in leagues and drag racing his Oldsmobile 442 “The Hummer” at Beaver Springs Dragway and Numedia Dragway. Gerald and Liz enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Florida with their friends. Most recently, he loved sitting on his big blue recliner with his best friend, Cuddles the cat.
He was a member of the Mazeppa Union Church, Lewisburg
Surviving in addition to his wife, are one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Rodney Neitz of Lewisburg; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gerald Jr. and Joanne Lloyd of Mifflinburg, Gary and Diane Lloyd of Mifflinburg, and Shawn Lloyd of Lewisburg; one nephew who was like a son to him, and his wife, Joshua and Heather Booth; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Darlene Miller, Patricia and Wayne Croll and Sharon and Tom Booth; 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Brian and Jenn Neitz, Jason and Renee Neitz, Jennifer and Nathan Swineford, Cassie and Emily Lloyd, Gerald III and Katiann Lloyd, Tricia Lloyd, Jessica Lloyd, Brady Lloyd and fiancé Rebekah, Allison and Travis Shively, Vanessa Lloyd, and Christopher Lloyd; and 9 great-grandchildren; Camryn and Hunter Neitz, Chase Swineford, Laurel, Aspen and Theo Lloyd, Kali and Cooper Shively, and Baby Neitz expected in September.
He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Lloyd; brothers, Sherman, Robert, and George Lloyd; and sisters, Betty Derr and Sylvia Hanselman.
Family and friends are welcome from 6-8 p.m., Friday, August 30, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Road, Mifflinburg, and 10-11 a.m., Saturday, at Mazeppa Union Church, 3200 Johnson Mill Road, Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Pastor Ricky Phillips, officiating.
Burial will follow in Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
