MIFFLINBURG – Gladys L. Kratzer, 86, of Walnut St., entered into rest at 10:37 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
She was born July 28, 1929, in Mazeppa, a daughter of the late George and Mabel (Baker) Thomas. On August 19th she celebrated 65 years of marriage with her husband Richard E. Kratzer, who survives.
Gladys worked many years as bookkeeper for her husband’s contracting business.
She was a member of the Dreisbach United Church of Christ and enjoyed bingo, bowling and spending time with family and friends. She also volunteered as a foster grandparent at a local day care in Mifflinburg.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Bonnie and Bobby Bryant of Palm Bay, FL and Brenda L. Kratzer of Mifflinburg; three grandchildren, Stacy Rivera, Chanda Ratchford and Ryan Rivera and three great grandchildren, Olivia Snyder, Emily Ratchford and Maya Ratchford.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Kratzer, a daughter, Karen Kratzer, three brothers, James, Marlin and Luther Thomas and two sisters, Sarah Erdley and Flora Emery.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Dreisbach United Church of Christ, 875 Dreisbach Road, Lewisburg where the funeral will be conducted Tuesday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ruth Farrell, officiating.
Burial will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the church.
