Glenn K. Hoffman, 87, Mifflinburg
Glenn Kenneth Hoffman, 87, of 1058 Buffalo Creek Rd, for the past 4 years, formerly of Mill St., for 57 years, entered into rest at 1:30 a.m., Saturday, January 8, 2011, at his home.
He was born June 22, 1923, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Melvin and Anna (Zimmerman) Hoffman. On May 5, 1946, at the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, he married the former June I. Wirth, who survives.
Glenn served in the Army during World War II, from April 11, 1942 until his honorable discharge January 4, 1946, and served in the Army National Guard from January 26, 1960 until his honorable discharge January 25, 1965.
Earlier in life, Glenn worked for his father at Hoffman's Machine Shop, Mifflinburg. He then was employed as a mechanic at BZ Motors, Lewisburg, and Susquehanna Motor Company, West Milton, until he retired in 1987.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410, past member of the Mifflinburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1964, and Mifflinburg Moose Lodge 1396. Glenn was a life member of the Mifflinburg Hose Company and Fire Police, where he served as one of the original ambulance drivers.
Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and sharing TV time and tootsie rolls with his grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 64 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Robert E. and Joyce E. Hoffman of Mifflinburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Deborah L. and Dale S. Reichard of Mifflinburg; one sister, Betty Musselman of Red Lion; 4 grandchildren, Michael S. and his wife Christeann Reichard of Lewisburg, Amy L. Reichard of Mifflinburg, Robert K. Hoffman of Chesterland, OH, and Stefanie J. and her husband Bruce English of Howard; and 3 great grandchildren, Noelle Reichard, Hope Reichard, and Matthew English.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Michael C. Romig, officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
