Glenn E. Hollenbach, 76, New Berlin
Glenn Eugene Hollenbach, 76, of 423 Green St., for 55 years, entered into rest at 1:55 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012, at Rolling Hills Manor, where he had been a resident since April.
He was born June 14, 1935, in New Berlin, a son of the late Benjamin D. and Carrie E. (Kline) Hollenbach. On September 15, 1961, he married Roberta Lee "Bobbie" Reidell, who survives.
Glenn was a 1953 graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School.
He was a member of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Berlin, where he was a Sunday school teacher for 20 years, a member of the church council for 14 years, and served as secretary for the council for 6 years.
Glenn was a Weblos Boy Scout leader in New Berlin for 8 years, coached Little League baseball in New Berlin for 7 years, and served as caretaker of the New Berlin Cemetery.
He was a member of the New Berlin Fire Company, New Berlin Ambulance Association, and Mifflinburg Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1396.
In 1953, Glenn was employed as a driver for Leire Fry and delivered milk to Rosedale Creamery in New Berlin. Later, Glenn was employed for 41 years at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg.
He enlisted in the Army in April 1954, and was stationed in Camp Gordon, Georgia. Glenn was then stationed in France from 1954 to 1956, and continued his service in the Army National Guard for more than 6 years.
Glenn, known by many as Rufus, Holly, Hoagie, or Hopper, was a unique man. He loved all of his family and enjoyed watching his children play sports at Mifflinburg High School. Glenn enjoyed traveling to watch both of his sons participate in Punt, Pass, and Kick competions, and later play Legion baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and going out to local restaurants with his wife and socializing with their friends.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 50 years, are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark J. Hollenbach of Harrisburg, and Chart H. and Wendy Hollenbach of Lewisburg; two daughters and one son-in-law, Glenda "Gigi" Hollenbach of Watsontown, and Michele L. and Brad Manning of Milton; 6 grandchildren, Kahla and Drew Manning, of Milton, Norah, Holly, Alice, and Mary Hollenbach, of Lewisburg; and one sister, Faye Eroh, of Sunbury.
He was preceded in death by seven brothers, Elwood "Woody", Charles, Dennis, Russell "Jumbo", Donald, Arthur, and Robert "Bobbie" Hollenbach; three sisters, Erma Weirick, Miriam Maurer, and Dorothy Hollenbach; and his ex-wife, and Glenda's mother, Margaret Beard.
Glenn will be greatly missed. The Hollenbach family extends a special thank you to Betty and John Hollenbach for their help and special care for Glenn in the last couple of years.
Family and friends are welcome from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday, at the Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church, 308 Market St., New Berlin, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Andrew S. Fitch, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Berlin Cemetery, with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
