Gloria J. Maize, 72, Lewisburg

Gloria J. Maize, 72, of Kelly Apartments, 133 JPM Rd., formerly of New Berlin, entered into rest at 3:25 a.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born August 31, 1940, in New Berlin, a daughter of the late Glenn and Edith (Smith) Maize.

Gloria was a member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ, New Berlin.

She was a 1958 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

Gloria was employed as a floor manager at Tara Lee Sportswear, New Berlin, and later worked at Q-E Manufacturing, New Berlin. Earlier in life, she worked for Dr. John Loughead and his family.

She was a charter member of the New Berlin Heritage Association, the Heritage Association Museum Committee, and was instrumental in starting the New Berlin Heritage Days. Gloria had interest in the history of Union County, and especially enjoyed assisting in the preservation of the history of New Berlin.

Gloria was an amazing cook and was skilled at crafts. She enjoyed hosting parties, sharing time with family and friends at Christmas, traveling to visit her niece in Pittsburgh, and her family in Oregon and California whom she discovered through her genealogy research.

Surviving are one sister-in-law, Christine Maize of New Berlin; and one niece, Kellee Maize of Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Terry Maize.

Funeral services will be conducted privately at the convenience of the family.
