Millmont

Gordon “Butch” L. Libby, 80, of Millmont, entered into the arms of Jesus with family by his side, at 1:58 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.

He was born December 3, 1939 in Millmont, a son of the late Wilbur J. and Helen I. (Zimmerman) Libby. On December 5, 1960, he married the former Pauline D. Coudriet, who survives.

Butch was a 1957 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

He served in the US Army in Korea from 1958 until 1960. He then served in the National Guard from 1960 until his honorable discharge in 1964. During this time, he was awarded the Marksman, Sharpshooter, and Good Conduct Medals.

Butch was employed at the Laurelton Center for 35 years, where he worked in the Heat Plant until retirement.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was a member of the Buffalo Valley Sportsmen’s Club.

Butch was a member of the Church of Christ Christian Union, Lewisburg.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Gregory Rishel, and Kimberly and George Hassinger, both of Mifflinburg; two sisters, Rhelda Weaver of Millmont, and Ruby Templin of Milton; two granddaughters, Amber and Evan Frock of Maryland, and Paige Rishel of Mifflinburg.

He was preceded in death by brothers Jacque Libby, and one brother in infancy.

Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Wednesday, at Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11, with Rev. Harry Harter, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 410 and VFW Post 1964, both of Mifflinburg.
