Guy C. Smith, 88, New Berlin
Guy Clarence Smith, 88, of 611 Nagle St., for over 20 years, entered into rest at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Riverwoods, Lewisburg, where he had been a resident since February.
He was born February 19, 1924, in Mifflinburg, a son of the late Paul and Helen (Bingaman) Smith.
Guy served in the Army, 981st Motor Ambulance Company, from July 26, 1943 until his honorable discharge March 3, 1946. He was honored with the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, and World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was employed for over 30 years as a truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight, Baltimore, Maryland.
Guy enjoyed fishing with his brother in his spare time.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, James G. Smith, and William S. and Michelle Smith, all of Ferndale, Maryland; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Ron Campbell of Berwick; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Janet Smith of Mifflinburg; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Anna Mae and Kenneth Shuck of Mifflinburg, and Mary Sampsell of Lewisburg; two grandchildren, Hannah Smith and William Smith; and his companion, Gladys M. Whitesel, of New Columbia.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Clair Smith; and one sister, Miriam Herman.
Friends and family are welcome from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. :Paul Cope, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery with military honors by the Mifflinburg American Legion Post 410.
