Guy A. Walter, 89, Lewisburg

Guy Ammon Walter, 89, formerly of Mifflinburg and Lewisburg, entered into rest at 1:45 a.m., Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Riverwoods, where he had been a resident since February 2011.

He was born March 4, 1924, in Winfield, a son of the late Stanford F. and Mabel (Manbeck) Walter. On April 28, 1945, in Millheim, he married the former Kathryn I. Gharet, who preceded him in death on December 13, 2003.

Guy was a member of the Mifflinburg United Methodist Church, where he had served on the church council.

He was employed at Pennsylvania House, Lewisburg, for 40 years. Earlier in life, he farmed and worked at Snook's Mill, Mifflinburg.

Guy enjoyed working on cars and gardening.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Nevin E. and Linda D. Walter of Lewisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia A. and William Schlosser of Clark Summit, and Shirley E. and Norman Jones of Mifflinburg; 7 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Walter, and Glenn Walter; and two sisters, Helen Brosius, and Ruth Herb.

Family and friends are welcome from 11 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at noon with Rev. Ronald Warfle, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mifflinburg Cemetery.
