H. Edward Shannon, 86, Lewisburg

H. Edward Shannon, 86, of 1110 Buffalo Rd., since 1952, entered into rest at 1:29 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2013, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

He was born June 12, 1926, in Lewisburg, a son of the late Frank and Myrtle (Zellers) Shannon. On August 8, 1944, in the Mazeppa Union Church, he married the former Marion J. Wagner, who preceded him in death March 28, 2006.

Edward attended the Lewisburg High School.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the 90th Infantry Division, European Theatre, from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. At the end of the war, he served in the Third Army.

Edward was a self-employed contractor most of his life.

He was a member of the Mazeppa Union Church for over 60 years.

Edward enjoyed listening to country music, hunting, fishing, watching the Baltimore Orioles, gardening, and especially mowing the grass on his John Deer tractor.

He was a member of the Lewisburg American Legion Post 182, Mifflinburg Moose Lodge 1396, and the Mifflinburg V.F.W. Post 1964.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Edward W. and Adrienne Shannon of Lewisburg; one daughter, Vicki D. Garinger of Lewisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Joanne Shannon of Lewisburg; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Edward A. Shannon of Catawissa, Brian Garinger of New Berlin, Marlin Garinger, Jr. of Kona, Hawaii, Adam and Chris Garinger of Canoga Park, CA, and Christina and Aaron Hutch of Las Vegas; and 3 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are welcome from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, at the Mazeppa Union Church, 3200 Johnson Mill Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.

Burial will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery, with military honors by the local American Legion veterans.
