Harold W. Swartzlander, 88, of 1140 Centennial Rd., Mifflinburg, since 1970, entered into rest at 12:50 p.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2020, at his home.
He was born August 26, 1931, in West Buffalo Township, a son of the late Charles and Helen (Boob) Swartzlander. On June 18, 1960, in Mazeppa, he married the former Shirley I. Reich, who survives.
Harold attended the Red Bank School House, West Buffalo Township.
He was employed at Chef Boyardee, Milton, for 33 years, until he retired in 1993. Harold also worked at Philco, Watsontown and for West Buffalo Township.
Harold enjoyed woodworking, gardening, hunting, and spending time with family. He was an active member of Mt. Deliverance Church in New Columbia.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 59 years, are four sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene C. and Nancy, Mifflinburg, Kenneth W. and Kathy, Lewisburg, Alan R. and Susan, Milton, and Brian L. and Hope, Mifflinburg; a granddaughter that he raised, Katie L. Swartzlander of Lewisburg, as well as, an additional 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He also is survived by 1 brother, Robert Swartzlander Sr. of Mifflinburg; and a sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Jason Sherwood of Montandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Harold Jr. and Dwayne Swartzlander; 4 brothers; and 3 sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with his Pastor Carl Varner, officiating.
Funeral arrangements are by Roupp Funeral Home, Inc. 8594 Old Turnpike Rd, Mifflinburg.
