WATSONTOWN a�" Harry J. Mitchell, Sr., 98, formerly of Mazeppa, entered into rest at 10:15 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014, at Watsontown Health and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a resident for the past 5 years.
He was born August 11, 1916, in Snyder County, a son of the late James W. and Edna M. (Hummel) Mitchell. On June 21, 1940, in Berryville, Virginia, he married the former Mary Beatrice Haggy, who preceded him in death in 1964.
Harry was employed as a track man for Reading Railroad for 16 years, and later worked for Lewisburg Concrete, and Yorktowne Cabinetry, Mifflinburg.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg Moose Lodge #1396.
Surviving are one son, Harry J. Mitchell, Jr., of Watsontown; one sister, G. Anabelle Jarrett of Selinsgrove; 3 grandchildren, Jerry Mitchell of Milton, James Mitchell of New Berlin, and Eve Marie Beachel of Watsontown; and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty J. Mitchell; four brothers, Charles A., Elwood H., Rudolph T., and Richard C. Mitchell; and three sisters, Elizabeth E. Predix, Josephine M. Redkoles, and Euphemia C. Burkey.
Family and friends are welcome from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, at the Mazeppa Union Church, 3200 Johnson Mill Rd., Lewisburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m., with Rev. Ricky Phillips, officiating.
Burial will be in the Mazeppa Union Cemetery.
