Helen M. Mattern, 82, Beaver Springs

Helen Marie Mattern, 82, of 140 Wagner Ave., since 1974, entered into rest at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2013, at the Manor at Penn Village.

She was born June 4, 1931, in Laurelton, a daughter of the late Milford "Bucky" and Ive (Berger) Dorman. In 1961, she married Donald E. "Zig" Mattern, who survives.

Helen was a 1949 graduate of Mifflinburg High School.

She was a member of the Christ's United Lutheran Church, Millmont.

Helen was employed as a dental assistant at the Laurelton Center for 35 years, until she retired in 1986.

She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 52 years, are one son and daughter-in-law, Douglas B. "Zig" and Lisa L. Mattern of Beaver Springs; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Isabelle Kline of Laurelton, and Joyce and Gary Loss of Hartleton; one granddaughter, Jenelle N. and her husband Ryan VanHorn of Middleburg; and one close relative, Carol Loss of New Berlin.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Donald Dorman; and one granddaughter, Erika L. Mattern.

There will be no public viewing. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, with Rev. John Yost, officiating.

Burial will be in the Hartleton Cemetery.
