Helen "Ben" I. Rathfon, 82, Selinsgrove
Helen "Ben" Irene Rathfon, 82, formerly of 180 Rathfon Rd., for 51 years, entered into rest at 12:13 p.m., Friday, at the Manor at Penn Village, Selinsgrove, where she had been a resident since 2009.
She was born November 18, 1929, in Danville, a daughter of the late George I. and Verna Bessie (Miller) Hanselman. On June 21, 1957, she married John W. Rathfon, who preceded her in death August 13, 2007.
Ben was employed at Cool-Tex, Mifflinburg, and Miss Sarah's Sewing Factory, Selinsgrove.
She was formerly a member of the Sound of the Gospel Church, Selinsgrove.
Ben enjoyed cooking, canning foods, crocheting, Sunday meals with her family, and spending time with her dog, "Wolf".
Surviving are three sons and one daughter-in-law, Roger Rathfon of Selinsgrove, John II and Deb Rathfon of Sunbury, and Phillip Rathfon of Selinsgrove; one daughter and son-in-law, Hope and Greg Wagner of Selinsgrove; three grandchildren, John Rathfon III, and Elizabeth Rathfon of Sunbury, and Phillip Rathfon, Jr. of Northumberland; one brother, David Hanselman of New York; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Nancy and Ray Mitch, and Ruth Dauberman, all of Mifflinburg; brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Phylis and Marlin Reber of Mifflinburg, Eugene and Faye Rathfon of Selinsgrove, and Freeman and Dottie Rathfon of Mifflinburg; and one aunt, Hazel Dieffenderfer of Lewisburg.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sarah Rathfon; one brother, Charles Hanselman; and two sisters, Ada Oberlin and Clara Rathfon.
Family and friends are welcome from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Roupp Funeral Home, Inc., 8594 Old Turnpike Rd., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., with Pastor Richard L. DeVett, officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
